What does CoPilot do with LED Volumes?

If you're wanting to get into virtual production but don't know where to start, give us a call. CoPilot is builds virtual production solutions from the ground up. From green screen to LED volume solutions–we cover logistics, ordering, installation, and training your team how to use all hardware required.

What equipment is required to run a Virtual Production LED Volume?

The key to a proper virtual production setup is having all of the right equipment. The most important equipment is: an LED wall, a motion tracking system, 2-3 high end workstations, a sync generator, and a film camera.

How do you sync everything together?

Without properly syncing your LED wall with your motion tracking system AND your 3D environment, you can get drag or even worse… latency.

What are the best LED panels for Virtual Production?

While CoPilot is agnostic when it comes to all virtual production equipment, we have a few favourites…

What is “Pixel Pitch”? Is it Important?

Pixel Pitches measuring the distance between each individual LED diode on the wall. This distance is measured in millimetres (mm) and is important because it determines how close the camera can be to the LED wall without causing “moire”.

Don't you get “moire” when you point a camera at a big LED screen? How do you prevent it?

Great point. Moire is definitely something to consider when filming on an LED wall, but with a few simple tips it's easily preventable. The first thing to note, is keeping proper filming distance from the wall and making sure your camera has global shutter.

How much does an LED Volume cost?

This is a tricky question. While we wish it were much more straightforward, it all comes down to the size of the LED volume, and the type of LED you're looking to purchase. Since we're agnostic, we work within your budget to get your into virtual production at the most affordable cost possible.
